SHEIN launches SHEIN X NAFA capsule collection to celebrate Singapore’s 58th National Day

The launch marks SHEIN X’s inaugural collection that was created in partnership with an educational institution in the APAC region

SHEIN, a global, integrated, fashion and lifestyle marketplace, today launched the SHEIN X NAFA capsule collection in celebration of Singapore’s 58th National Day. The collection was created as part of a collaboration between SHEIN’s flagship incubator programme SHEIN X, and final year students from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) – Singapore’s pioneer arts education institution. The collection seeks to capture the essence of Singapore’s cultural identity through expressive designs that reflect the students’ Gen Z perspectives on the nation’s birthday celebration.

The partnership between SHEIN and NAFA aims to engage the next generation of creatives and empower them to showcase their talents by providing a platform for the students to hone their skill sets and gain industry insights through the six months-long collaboration with a global fashion marketplace.

Three groups consisting of four students from NAFA’s Fashion Business and Management course worked to create 8 – 9 outfits for the capsule collection, with SHEIN mentors and NAFA Fashion Studies lecturers providing guidance and professional feedback on the designs and proposed marketing strategy throughout the process. To this end, SHEIN shortlisted two outfits from each group with commercial potential to be manufactured and made available for sale on SHEIN Singapore’s mobile app and website.

The SHEIN X NAFA capsule collection features six looks and 12 pieces, including tops, trousers, dresses, and skirts. Local elements such as the ArtScience Museum and the Singapore flag inspired the collection that can now be purchased here.

“We are dedicated to nurturing the new wave of creatives through SHEIN X and are glad to offer the final-year students from NAFA a realistic taste of the design and manufacturing experience before they embark on their professional journeys.” said Leonard Lin, Global Head of Public Affairs and General Manager of SHEIN Singapore. “In conjunction with the upcoming Singapore’s 58th National Day, it is also our hope to offer SHEIN customers, many of whom are in the Gen Z demographic, the opportunity to express their individuality through designs inspired by the vibrant tapestry of Singapore’s identity.”

From just seven designers when the program launched in January 2021, the SHEIN X incubator program has grown to more than 3,000 designers and artists globally, launching more than 30,000 original creations. SHEIN has invested more than $55 million into the program and provides participants unprecedented access to our supply chain, technology, and marketing resources.
