We are committed to operating responsibly across every area of our business and hold ourselves to leading international standards. The trust of our customers and partners is paramount to what we do, so we implement leading industry practices and policies designed to protect those we work with.
Data Security and Privacy
Data Protection
Data security and privacy are top priorities at SHEIN. Our U.S.-based Privacy Office works to protect the personal data of our customers and employees in line with leading industry practices and applicable regulations.
We use advanced security technologies to protect our global digital systems and — most importantly — our customers’ data.
We do not sell or share customer data with anyone.
We are committed to only collecting and using the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services. We use aggregated data from first-party interactions with our mobile app and website. This data is used to inform our designs, a key step in our unique on-demand business model.
When information is collected from or about our customers, employees, and partners, we process, use, and store that information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Our global Privacy Policy is hosted on our store-front website and explains how personal information is collected, used, shared and processed.
Keeping Our Systems Secure
At SHEIN, cybersecurity is built into our business. Security is embedded in every step of the application development lifecycle and every layer of technology. Our US-based Global Security and Risk Management Team is focused on building and running security capabilities to identify threats, mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Our systems and controls are aligned to standards set by the International Standards Organization (ISO), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Payment Card Industry’s Digital Security Standard (PCI DSS).
We also partner with third-party experts and top security firms to conduct regular risk assessments based on these internationally recognized security standards and frameworks

PRODUCT SAFETY
Policies
SHEIN global compliance teams monitor changes and developments in product safety compliance laws and regulations, continually investing in and optimizing our product compliance processes. Our agreements and policies with merchants mandate that all merchants comply with the applicable product safety laws and regulations in the countries where their products are sold.
SHEIN immediately removes products globally if they are determined to be non-compliant with safety requirements in any country or jurisdiction. This measure is taken out of an abundance of caution and aims to protect customers worldwide.
SHEIN has a due diligence process to assess any new product categories created by our business team. This process ensures that we are fully aware of the relevant compliance requirements for each type of product and can establish appropriate guidelines for merchants for each product category.
For a wide range of product categories, SHEIN configures corresponding product rules in its system. These rules cover product and merchant standards for testing, registration, certification, labeling, and more, based on product type. Merchants are required to provide compliance documentation, such as required certificates and test reports, for listing these products.
SHEIN conducts ongoing monitoring and random checks on products. Prohibited products are continuously checked through the system’s technical means (e.g., automated processes such as image recognition) and random manual checks. Inspections are carried out through testing by well-known third-party laboratories, including Bureau Veritas, Intertek, SGS, and TUV-SUD. Should a product be found noncompliant, we remove it from sale immediately. This includes monitoring CPSC and other regulators’ recall notices and removing identical products from SHEIN sites promptly; and conducting internal self-inspections based on media reports and regulators’ safety alerts.
SHEIN is committed to maintaining a network of high-quality sellers, holding all sellers to rigorous standards and eliminating non-compliant sellers.
For SHEIN-branded apparel products, SHEIN has built and implemented a multi-faceted product safety protocol to monitor and simulate the compliance of SHEIN branded apparel products with applicable laws and regulations. This involves mandatory documentation, tracking and chemical safety testing for SHEIN branded products, starting right at the source. All SHEIN suppliers are required to comply with the controls and standards we have put in place.
Incident Response Protocol
SHEIN’s incident response protocol states that products found to be non- compliant with safety requirements in any country or jurisdiction will immediately be delisted globally This process is managed by a designated compliance team in the LCC. This precautionary measure aims to protect consumers worldwide and reflects our commitment to safety. For each incident, we conduct a gap analysis and update the applicable control rules accordingly.
SHEIN will then work with a designated compliance team and all internal stakeholders to take the appropriate steps regarding the recall, including delisting the product, notifying the impacted customers, recalling the product and issuing refunds, when applicable.
SHEIN will take action against merchants for selling non-compliant products or for contravening our agreements and policies, regardless of whether the non-compliance is identified by a regulator or during our internal monitoring and inspection.
Intellectual Property
SHEIN respects and protects intellectual property (IP) rights. Whether designs come from our in-house design team, our marketplace sellers, or our over 4,600 independent SHEIN X designers, we strive to avoid infringement and take swift action if we find it. Designers and artists work hard to create their work, and we’ve set a high bar for protecting those efforts.
Our intellectual property compliance program is led by a U.S.-based team with strong industry experience. We are committed to set a high bar in IP compliance efforts and benchmark ourselves against leading international standards. We continuously evaluate and improve our approach to mitigating IP infringement.
Preventing IP Infringement
SHEIN educates designers, manufacturers and third-parties about intellectual property to ensure all parties are aware of our policy and ramifications of infringement. They must all adhere to our policy and certify that their products do not infringe on third-party intellectual property, and we require evidence creation, ownership, or originality. Disciplinary action is taken against suppliers found to have provided problematic products, including financial penalties and termination.
We have implemented a number of controls and continue to invest in and improve our product review process. To detect IP infringement early on, a dedicated team utilizes image-recognition technology and manually scans to review all products before they are added to our website.
We have a dedicated IP Complaint Portal where rights holders can submit takedown notices for alleged infringement of trademark, copyright, patent or design rights.
Tax Compliance
As a global company, we believe taxes must be paid where value is created, and we comply with the domestic tax laws of the countries in which we operate. We are subject to the same tax regulations as our industry peers. Our corporate tax policy is based on agreed international tax regimes, including transfer pricing rules and the upcoming global minimum tax.
